evilspeak-small Yes, it looks like I’ll be posting an episode every two weeks. Things are chaotic in Ghoulzone Land, and I never know when I will get a couple of hours of quiet to myself to get it recorded. So we’re probably looking at next week for episode 4 unless I can steal some time this week.

Sorry if it bugs some people that I can’t seem to stick to a definite schedule, but as I always say I’m working with the brain they gave me.

A few folks have suggested that I put a PayPal link on the site for donations, but I’m uncomfortable with the concept. I do have an account although I haven’t used it in a long time so I’ll have to see if it’s still active. I’ll consider it, though the traffic to this site is still pathetic at this early stage and therefore this whole thing may not make much difference. We shall see.

There are a couple of new t-shirt designs in the Store and I have a couple more I’m working on that will be available soon. It would be awesome if people bought some, I feel more comfortable making a buck for the show by this method.

A note about that: I joined Spreadshirt (similar to CafePress only better, which I talked about in episode 3) with a free account. However, if you can afford to pay about $100 a year, you can start several “shops” to sell your wares. This deal allows you to sell your t-shirt designs using an interface that allows your customers to put your designs on any article on the site themselves, and they have lots of stuff to choose from. This would be a better alternative to me manually creating the products one at a time, and you can pick your own stuff from hoodies to mouse pads.

fakeshempingbuttonHowever, according to sound business practices I would have to be making at least 100 bucks first to justify the expense of paying the fee for the store, otherwise I’m just bleeding more cash and I cannot afford that. Otherwise, I would love to do this, and I think it would be great for people to be able to have more freedom to choose their own products.

Best of all, if you have your own horror podcast/website and get a free Spreadshirt account, you can use my designs to make your own products and sell them from your site. As with services like CafePress, you can choose your own price. But unlike CP, Spreadshirt offers a base commission price to whomever originally created and posted the design. This way, we both get a couple of bucks out of my efforts. I invite the other horror podcasters to take part in this. I was planning on making designs especially for their sites, but I haven’t received feedback on this and I’d rather be sure people are up for the idea before I do all that work.

If you are interested in helping the show, this would be a good way for you to do it.

Ghoultoons are easier to manage and will continue to go up every Monday and Thursday. Big thank you to those who gave me feedback on the ‘Toons and the podcast and to everybody, thanks for sticking around.

tgp-badgeEpisode 3 – Wrist cutting! Yay!

The show begins with talk of haunted houses and cheap housepaint. A criticism is made about other podcasts which should annoy some podcasters, but support is offered so maybe Fake Larry won’t look like a know-it-all jerk.

A visit from a strange neighbor occurs and puns are committed. In-depth discussion of the Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police DVDs is presented and much stuttering and confusion occurs in the face of the bloodiest films in recent memory. The mystery of whether or not Jason Voorhees is a zombie is finally solved, and t-shirts are made available to all. Then, there is metal.

Below are some screen caps from the modern masterpieces of Japanese filmmaking chaos, Machine Girl by writer/director Noboru Iguchi, and Tokyo Gore Police directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, special effects man from the previous film. Upon viewing the films, it becomes immediately obvious that both men are very creative and drink WAY too much coffee.

Ghoulzone Podcast episode 3

Is the undead Jason Voorhees a zombie or not?

The debate among the horror podcast community continues. Message boards and podcasts buzz with activity, and some very silly debates, attempting to discover the truth. But you can do something to help.

In the interest of settling the arguments   (and as an excuse to do something goofy)  I present the following original t-shirt design.

jasonisaninja-tshirt01

Won’t you do your part to end the debate and spread the truth about Jason once and for all? Wear your message proudly, and with your help we can stop the arguing and start the laughing. Do it for the children, before they get upset and drown in a lake.

Jason Voorhees is not a zombie.

This has been a Ghoulzone public service message.

f13-badgeEpisode 2 – Friday the 13th – An Old Beginning

This episode I talk about the  recent DVD issues of Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th part 3, finally in 3D as it was originally released. We go back in time to when the film was released, and I talk about how the first movie helped kick off my lifelong interest in horror. Yes, there will be anecdotes.

Then we move on to debunking several of the commonly held beliefs surrounding slasher movies and F13. Evidence is presented, points are discussed, and ranting ensues. There is also talk about appreciating what makes the Friday movies entertaining, and how the 3D in Part 3 causes headaches. Yes, there will be more anecdotes.

Below are the photos I talk about in the episode.

After all this time, do the Friday movies still deliver the scares?

Exactly.
