fotg-badgeEpisode 4 – Oh rats, it’s Larry!

Welcome to Chez Ghoulzone! Please, have a seat and be comfortable. You are just in time to join me and a crapload of gigantic worms, chickens, and rats as we chow down on everything in sight.

We start with soup and salad consisting of various news items, from the future of Ghostbusters and The Thing to the anticipation of the Halloween sequel.

For the appetizer, Rob Zombie is barbequed over an open flame, then defended, followed by more barbecuing and basted with my very own brand of extra-critical sauce. Mmm-MMM!

For the main course, my thoughts on horror movie remakes. Definitions are definitioned and hairs are split, and the whole thing is cleared up for everyone. It’s finger-lickin’-good theory.

For dessert, a rich cheesey review of Food of the Gods. Director Bert I. Gordon is famous for serving up some of the most undigestible films ever made, so be sure to have plenty of fiber and antacids on hand.

This entire meal amounts to a total of 2 solid hours of fine auditory eatin’. Here’s hoping you have nothing to do for awhile!

Ghoulzone Podcast episode 4

Thanks to visitor Dark for pointing out code errors in my Wordpress template. I took his advice and fixed it, and the site is looking better in Firefox now. It’s not perfect yet, there are still some issues in the footer and such, which if you noticed are also showing up in the footer when displayed in IE.

But it’s looking better with most of the formatting loading properly and at least you can read the site, so that’s good enough for now.

I like the free template I found for this site after a long search, but I always wanted one that had a more simple layout and would be easier to tweak than this one. I just couldn’t find one that was quite right, with the three column layout I have now. Too much tweaking.

If anyone knows of a simpler free template, let me know and I’ll install it and give it a try. I’d particularly like one that already has a green-on-black motif like it is now.

Anyway, if you would like to visit a site that has lots of good horror-related content and does NOT have a fucked up format, go to Dark’s blog It’s Dark In The Dark.

I am baffled.

Due to several reports of my website not showing up properly on Firefox, I have been trying other Wordpress templates to see if this is the source of the errors in layout. I have tried several, and when tested in my Firefox browser thay all came out screwed up.

I don’t know what else to do, because I don’t know where the error lies. It’s my nature at this point to say fuck you to Firefox, since I tried using it myself several times over the years and have had many problems with it. Frankly, I don’t understand the appeal, except perhaps as protest against Microsoft’s browser. I’m not one for product loyalty, I just use what works and whatever is handy. All I know is that Explorer shows the website normally.

On the other hand, I learned to make websites back in the day, and it’s good design sense to make sure your site is compatable across all the popular browsers. This is the first website I have had that I didn’t design myself. I needed a Wordpress template but I don’t have the time to learn about them or make one myself from scratch.

This sort of thing used to be simpler back in the old days, kids.

I’m sending out the call, does anyone know what I can do to make sure all my visitors are getting the experience of this site the way they should? I’ll need some help, otherwise I can’t do anything about it.

I barely have the time to keep fresh content on the site regularly, and I’m so busy nowadays that I just don’t have time to keep tweaking and wrestling with something that should have been straightforward.

Until then, I apologize to Firefox users.

Ironically, that message goes out to the same people that have the most trouble seeing it. Like the old man said, “cain’t win for losin’ “.

What do pinheads say about people with average heads? Are they like “HAHA! Your head is HUGE!”

goodnewsI am in the process of editing Episode 4 of the podcast, and it should be posted soon.

I’ve been so damned busy lately and just can’t seem to get a couple of hours alone to get the show fully recorded. People and animals like to make noise it seems, and my gawd we can’t have that.

Fortunately I figured out that I can get more things done if I stop wasting time sleeping.

But I do want to try to get more regular content on the website, so here’s what you’ll be seeing in the near future-

  • Regular blog entries a few times a week about horror stuff I see around teh internets
  • A couple of new mini features on the right sidebar: one called Random Freakage which is a set of rotating mini Ghoultoons. I’ll add more images there now and then. Each page refresh will give you a new chuckle.
  • The other is Pick My Brain, which will be funny mini blog posts. Hooray for Wordpress widgets!
  • Movie reviews in their own section, I’m still working out the format I want to use for them
  • A Ghoulzone store with a wide variety of awesome swag

So be sure to stop by and see the ongoing mutation.

BTW – I’ve been getting more great feedback on the Ghoultoons, and I’m happy that you guys are enjoying them so much. There are plenty more to come. And be sure to pay attention to the message boards for all your favorite podcasts, because you never quite know when or where the Ghoultoons will stike next! I may infect yours!

Stick around, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

If you were attacked by a zombie jellyfish, where would you shoot it?
